A sustainable infrastructure facility using locally manufactured units called PODs; the Geo-POD acts as the catalyst for people in developing countries to change their lives.
It is a 'box' in which a community can make something they want happen.
It enables the three basic factors for regeneration and development to take place - Trade, Health and Education.
Commerce (Trade-POD)
- Trade-POD acts as a link to local markets.
- Workshops & trade skills.
- Micro finance - business start-ups / expansion / livestock / tools.
- Training - skills.
- Trading networks established - local / regional - transport networks.
- Telecom "Cabin" - Internet access point / information - create jobs.
- Electricity generation - surplus sold to local businesses operating in converted container workshops and used to light an area at night for the community to utilise.
Education (Edu-POD)
- Edu-POD acts as a classroom for Primary age education.
- Adult education - Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Library and Information access point.
- Sports development.
- Life skills training - smokeless fires / fuel efficient ovens.
- Community centre - multi use / faith centre.
- Rechargeable lights for homework.
- Food kitchen - hot meals / food to take home.
Medical (Medi-POD)
- Medi-PODs provide links to local Clinics / Hospitals.
- Medicine dispensary.
- Health Clinics - Aids / HIV / Family Planning / information.
- Medical clinics - treatment / preventative actions.
- Nutrition and food distribution point e.g. Salt / vitamins.
- International Charities - coordination and access point / monitoring.
- Clean water provision - reduction in neck injuries due carrying water
